Huck and Target Practice

We are a small operation. So at this point we had to use two rams to breed the ewes old enough to breed. Sven was the handful at first. Jealous since he had only 8 females to Huckleberry (Huck) Finn's nearly triple that number. Sven was jumping through the fence. Problem fixed when we realized the fence was unplugged. Once electric was back on Sven and I had a small battle which ended in him getting shocked by the fence. Now that he knew it was back in working order breeding season could commence.
Huck was the gentleman. Standing like a sweetheart and getting attention. Once or twice he was a bit of a problem due to a ewe ready to be beef. He was defending his territory. As long as he stayed out of my territory we were good.
That changed on Sunday. He decided that I was his target and be needed to practice hitting me. This is not my first rodeo with a ram 🐏. However, this was our first time having one come at the adults from a distance. He almost had me blocked in a pasture. Until I found a bucket we had used when we had more smaller pastures in use. One never knows how creative one can be until the times arrives. Four days he and I had matches. The bucket became my best friend to defend my person. Once the Big Shepherd heard what was happening still today Huck was pulled out of his breeding time and penned with his peers. The big boys are not happy. But I am since I don't have to deal with being a Huck target. He was near the time we wanted to pull him anyway.
