Divide and Conquer

It takes a few more hands to get things done some days. Last week was no exception when we had to build some pens for lambing. It involved searching for a hammer hidden in the bottom of a tool box, revamping the pen design, and brainstorming gate or pen door ideas.  But at the end of the night we had made significant progress.

With one of us working late this week dividing up who does the late night barn check has been a given.  There are pens waiting for ewes to lamb.  Plus ewes waiting and waiting to lamb. Lamb hotels are ready to go.  Towels are ready to dry off newborn lambs. Bottles and milk replacer are on standby if or when we need them.

Life on the farm is busy, crazy and fulfilling before you add in cold and flu season.  Then add in lambing 24/7.
