The Family Farm

We have been lambing and are about halfway through the ewes due this winter. This means we have been getting up during the night or early in the morning to check on the labor process or checking on them during the day. Communication has been key about who to check on and what needs done. We have been lucky to have the Little Shepherd's paternal grandparents to help us out when we are away or at work. Grandma has bonded with many of the sheep and had to help with a delivery while we were away. However, after growing up on a dairy farm where my paternal grandparents and Dad worked on the farm I can tell you it takes the family and sometimes the extended family to get through the busy times. Such as hay season, lambing season, bad weather or winter. Each season has their joys and trials but we somehow get through it together while helping care for the sheep, beef cattle and horses. Yes, along the way we may shed some tears but we also have times of joy and laughter to keep us going.
